My Prezi

My Prezi

The intended audience of my prezi would be fellow students and teachers. This presentation gives background information on myself as to where I currently am in my educational journey. This presentation also gives the audience what I have experienced thus far as well as what I value in terms of early childhood education. The content I intend to teach will be early childhood education. I am hopeful to become a kindergarten teacher. So far through my experiences in the field at Columbus State, I have learned to love the ages between 3-5. These children pick up on things so quickly! Children this age seem to love just about anything you throw at them as well. Especially when used to a routine, bringing in new materials and information just excites them to no end. Also, I love how kids this age can get so into books on a topic they truly enjoy. One day I hope to be a great kindergarten teacher. I have only had limited experience with children this age. I am very intrigued to learn more about kindergartners and how they best succeed in the classroom.

My thoughts on the prezi software...

I found prezi interesting but limited. It was also very time consuming. I think prezi is limiting in terms of font usage. You can only have three different fonts in the whole presentation, with only three different colors. I like to have my presentations to have a wider variety of fonts. The program only gives you ten or so fonts to choose from, and I would have liked more variety. The actual "putting together" of a prezi seems very time consuming. I am not sure if it is because I am new at it or just am so used to PowerPoint, but this presentation took me a good two hours to make. It seems really difficult to edit certain things. However, there are some things that I really LOVED about prezi. Prezi does skip some steps that PowerPoint does not, which is really convenient! I love how quick and easy it is to insert a YouTube video or just a regular image. It takes little to no time, so that is great. Overall, I may use prezi again, but I still prefer PowerPoint.

Three Great Teacher Blogs

http://www.miss-kindergarten.com/

I found this blog very interesting and visually appealing. Her home page has all kinds of crafts for fellow teachers to try. It also displays different activities her students have completed in all of the different developmental areas. This blogger also has her own teacher made products for sale that other teachers can purchase for low prices, which I thought was really interesting. She has links to fellow teacher blogs that she finds useful and resourceful, which is great! She also has a specific craft page on her blog that teacher's can access for inspiration. She has a DIY (Do It Yourself) page which shows many crafts that teachers can make on their own, with step by step instructions. I think this blog is a great resource for teachers.

I found this blog very useful for those who need ideas on implementing literacy in the classroom. She has many ideas and free printables available for teachers. She also has links to resources that are organized by subject area and themes which is very helpful. This blogger also provides links to other teacher blogs. She has a link of available products through teacherspayteachers.com that allow her to sell different pdf documents that can be used in the classroom.

I found this blog very resourceful. It has many links to other teacher blogs. It also has a large variety of teacher activities with a lot of free printables. There is a link to products you can buy for your own classroom through the teachers pay teachers website. She offers information on what she has done in her own classroom as well. This blog has a lot of information on many different topics that would be great to have as a resource for a early childhood educator.

Welcome to my Blog

Hello fellow teachers, students, parents, and all!

My name is Stephanie Baxter. I am a 23 year old college student seeking a degree in education. I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I work part-time as a receptionist at a retirement community in the Columbus area. I am a proud Air Force girlfriend, and have learned that life is short and to cherish every moment!
I am currently studying to become a early childhood educator and hope to graduate within the next two years with a bachelors degree from Ashland University. I am finishing up my last required course at Columbus State Community College and will be graduating with an Associates in the spring. From there, I plan to start coursework at Ashland University. I hope to become a kindergarten teacher in the future, but I am open to all grades. It really will depend which age group makes me the happiest! I have had three field placements with children preschool age and younger. I have loved every second of it! I knew within the first few classes at Columbus State that teaching was my passion and I cannot wait to change children's lives!
